We enjoyed a superb round of golf on the 17th July 2009 (hosted by SABIE RIVER SUN FOR THE HOEDSPRUIT ENDANGERED SPECIES CENTRE).

The very enthusiastic participants arrived full-force to enjoy a marvellous day in the sun. A total of 11 four-balls had reserved their spaces in advance.

The winners:

- Longest drive : Ruan Dreyer [won 2 nights at Harbour Bridge, sponsored by Relais Hotels]

- Nearest to the pin : Richard Pinard [won a prize sponsored by Timken - golf]

- Most Enthusiastic player : Rikus Smith [won Daniel Green sunglasses from Golf Digest]

- Winning team : Obed Mashego; Ezra Mabilane; Seven Maseko; Tim Marobane

- Lucky Draw : Theo Volschenk [sponsored by Travelex]

- Transafrica Safaris Prize : Nelson Marais from BMW [one night in Tanzania]

We were thrilled at the amount raised from the auction and raffle alone. We would like to thank Edward Coetzer from Sportsbase who handled the auction, and also gave us a percentage of the 4 items on auction.

Martin Vee was the formidable MC for the evening - and is also a talented musician himself.

The staff from Sabie River Sun were simply unbelievable, and very supportive. We are looking forward to putting on this very enjoyable event on an annual basis.

A total of R50 000 was raised for the endangered and vulnerable wildlife housed at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre.
