Rehabilitation and Care of Injured and Orphaned Animals
Separator Line after H1

It should be noted that the Centre is not a rehabilitation establishment as such. However, due to the availability of veterinary and quarantine facilities, different injured and orphaned young animals are brought to the Centre to be treated. Rehabilitation is performed by the veterinarian as well as support staff at the Centre. Where possible, animals are rehabilitated and released in appropriate locations. Due to the nature of the injuries, some animals that cannot be released after treatment are rehabilitated and accommodated at the HESC or are transferred to different suitable institutions.

Species that have been treated at the Centre in the past include, amongst others, the following:

  • Elephant (Loxodonta Africana)
